Harvard Ombuds Office

two closed padlocks in a circle The Harvard Ombuds Office is a confidential resource available to anyone from Harvard’s community. A discussion with an Ombuds can help a visitor voice concerns, clarify goals and consider options so that they can make their own best decisions about next steps. Any issue affecting one’s work or studies may be brought to an Ombuds.

Are my conversations with the Harvard Ombuds Office confidential? Harvard has designated the Cambridge and the Longwood Ombuds as “confidential” resources, which means that the Ombuds do not need to notify a Title IX Resource Coordinator when they learn about potential incidents of sexual or other sexual misconduct. However, if there is a criminal investigation or another type of external investigation or proceeding, the Ombuds may be required to reveal information that was shared with them.
