Laureate Colombian journalist Jineth Bedoya has been a critical voice in the search of justice for women of sexual violence in conflict in Colombia and worldwide.  The Inter-American Court of Human Rights recently ruled in her favor and held the Colombian State responsible for the kidnapping, torture, and sexual violence to which Ms. Bedoya was subjected on May 25, 2000, in retaliation for her journalistic work. This historic decision establishes a series of non-repetition measures that are essential in the fight towards violence against women and journalists and will encourage progress in putting an end to impunity for these crimes all over the country.
